About This Blog
You may be wondering why I am headed to China in the first place. Well, it is a bit of a long story, but a nice one, and hopefully one with a happy ending. My husband, Scott Leonard, has been playing music, most often the guitar, since he was a small child. He has always loved music more than anything else, and his life long dream has been to make a living at it. He played in a band with a good friend of ours for years, but eventually life got in the way and the two guys parted ways musically. My Scott started working a regular job, but continued to play at home every single day. His friend, however, continued to pursue the dream full time. He continued playing with others for a while but eventually struck out on his own and found success as a solo musician. He was signed by a Chinese record Label out of Beijing, and visited China for a short while to play some shows and record an album. Recently, he formed a new band and created a new EP. The EP was well received in Beijing, and the label invited our friend’s band to record a new album and move overseas in order to make a living touring and promoting the music. This is where my husband and I come in. While the opportunity to move to China and take the band to the next level is amazing, most of the band members had personal commitments that prevented them from taking the plunge. After all, moving to the other side of the world is a huge change, an enormous commitment, and in many ways, an incredible risk. Being in need of new musicians for the band, our old friend approached my husband Scott, who wholeheartedly accepted this amazing opportunity.
